4 Attraction Thieves
Written by Jerry on February 4, 2009 – 3:11 pm -Four Attraction Thieves
Nothing is worse than having a dream for yourself and having constant problems getting in the way and keeping you from it. The sad truth is those barriers to your dreams are usually self-created. Manifesting your desires may be hindered by four thieves operating on a daily basis in your life.
Everything you do is a choice and a choice always produces an outcome. Once you understand this, you might call it taking a personal responsibility for yourself. If your life isn’t flowing in the direction you wish, then maybe it is time to investigate these four thieves.
- Attitude
- Motivation
- Habits
- Time
Attitude: Accomplishing great things in your life is impossible if your thoughts and words are negative. When you wake in the morning are you happy to greet a new day? Has your mind shut down to the possibilities each new day brings? An attitude self-check is essential to personal growth. Without working on our attitude daily, it’s nearly impossible to recognize, let alone embrace opportunities which bring your dreams closer to reality. If you take a good look around you, you will see people stuck in an oppressive auto pilot life, caught up in an apathetic routine that resembles a life. An indifferent attitude is worse than a bad attitude in the long run. As you grow older, it becomes even more necessary to feed your mind, challenge your belief systems and do daily check-ups on your attitude. Being unaware of negative thoughts is a poor excuse for not being able to reach your dreams. Being accountable for your attitude means reaching out for resources and self-help tools when you need them. If you stick your head in the sand, this thief will surely steal your joy of self-discovery and manifesting your dreams.
Motivation: Simply put, motivation is having an “iron will”. If you really don’t mean to do something, you won’t. You might tap dance around thoughts of really doing something while melting away on your couch, but until you actually demonstrate your will through actions, it’s all just a fluffy daydream. The hard truth is you are the biggest faker in your own life if you have no motivation to accomplish your dreams. You may fool others by beating on your chest and telling the world what you are going to do. That’s just squawking. You can’t convince anyone, including yourself with words. You have to take action.
No one said finding motivation would be easy. Every single person has or has had difficulties with finding the right motivation. It’s the number two challenge in personal development. There will always be the little voice inside you telling you can to get motivated later. Until you make up your mind to exercise your will now, motivation and your dreams will elude you, keeping it thief number two in personal growth.
Here’s a hint. When looking for motivation, you will always find stronger driving forces when you start looking for why you want something important instead of looking for how you will get it.
Habits: Habits keep you in your comfort zone. Habits provide security. They feel safe, whether they are good habits or bad ones. They can also keep you from moving on into new and uncharted areas of growth. Which habits do you possess? Or a better question might be – What habits possess you? Are they a part of your problem or part of your solution? Sometimes poor habits become so ingrained into who you are, you don’t even notice how they rob you of your dreams. Developing new habits that are in harmony with your goals is a key to personal development. Your actions must support the results you want. The reason they are called habits is because you do them over and over and over – mostly unconsciously. To keep this thief robbing your life, you must make habits conscious and find ways to eliminate the unproductive habits.
Time: The word speaks for itself. It is a universal measure for all of the “stuff” that gives our life meaning. Finding time, not enough time, out of time… We all, from the poorest and most uneducated to kings have the same 24 hours in a day. Forget about what you did and the mistakes of yesterday. The thing that counts is what you are doing with your time right now. Is what you are doing right now getting you closer to your dreams?
Here’s food for thought: at the end of your life, how will you have defined your journey in regards to time? Did you make time work for you or did you do time? Each moment belongs solely to you. Respect the value of each moment life gives you.
